Avondale Brewing Company announces plans to open a distillery
BIRMINGHAM – ALA - The team behind Avondale Brewing Company announces plans to open Avondale Spirits, a distillery located in the Avondale neighborhood.
The distillery will operate out of a shared space within the new Wooden Goat, a Southeast Asian restaurant created by Chef Matt Ralph and owner Paul Davis. The restaurant will feature a small bar with views of the still. Avondale Spirits will offer experimental and standard spirits like gin, vodka and whiskey. The product will only be available for purchase in the Avondale Spirits tasting room, which will be located inside the Wooden Goat. In coordination with the opening of the Wooden Goat, Avondale Spirits plans to be up and running by the end of the year.
“The mission of Avondale Spirits will be to produce craft spirits from grain to glass. Rather than purchasing bulk spirits, the distillery will be sourcing local and regional grains, mashing, fermenting, distilling, aging, and packaging on site. By going through this labor intensive process, it brings an authenticity to the product and truth to the consumer,” Nate Darnell, Brewer at Avondale Brewing Company and Head Distiller at Avondale Spirits said. “We are excited to have people join us in enjoying some craft spirits in Birmingham.”
Avondale Brewing Company is a locally owned and operated brewery in the heart of the historic Avondale neighborhood in Birmingham, Ala.
The Wooden Goat restaurant and Avondale Spirits distillery will be located at 4100 3rd Avenue South on the Avondale Brewing Company campus.
